Newton Nissan is committed to the community that surrounds it. From work with Mustard Seed Communities to giving oil changes to local fundraising auctions, we are always looking for ways to give back. One of the organizations that reached out to us last year for sponsorship opportunities was Gallatin Shalom Zone. This wonderful organization, right here in Gallatin, is dedicated to improving our community by engaging Sumner County residents “in the work of healing, peace, reconciliation, justice, and love.”
Towards this end, Gallatin Shalom Zone has transformed a former high school (Union High School), into the Union High Resource Center. This centralized location serves our community as a meeting place for individuals as well as organizations to foster positive and healthy community development. Through programs such as ESL, after school tutoring, camps, and more, the center promotes a safe, healthy, and happy environment for kids and adults alike. In time, their goals are to see more children graduate high school and for our families to grow stronger.
This year, Newton Nissan joined their mission in sponsoring their 8th Annual Tribute Dinner, which seeks to honor with awards members in our community who are making a difference. Three awards are given at this dinner: The Heritage Award, The Leimentoll/Martin Humanitarian Award, and The Hal Hooper Philanthropy Award.
The Heritage Award will be presented to First Baptist Winchester. This award is given to a group or organization who are involved in the community in the spirit of the Shalom; First Baptist will receive this award for long-term, outstanding, and dedicated involvement in the community.
The Leimentoll/Martin Humanitarian Award will be presented to Bill Puryear. This award recognizes character, strength, and unwavering integrity and compassion. Bill will receive this award for his steadfast involvement in many schools, organizations, churches, and individuals’ lives.
The Hal Hooper Philanthropy Award will be presented to R.C.O. Holding Company/R.C. Owen III. This award showcases those whose donations have improved the community with sustainable change. R.C.O. Holding Company/R.C. Owen III receives this award for years of support given to the community by the company and past president.
You can still get involved and join them for this special tribute dinner on Thursday, March 15. Reservations are required. Contact the Shalom office at 615-442-7575 to reserve your seat! Tickets are $50/each; $400/table of 8.
We hope that together we can celebrate the work of Gallatin Shalom Zone and improve our community, one life at a time.

A few months ago, we told a story, about how “Newton Nissan gives” is a major part of our DNA here. We strive to be a part of our communities, not just a place for customers. And this is not limited to Middle Tennessee; for seven years now, we have partnered with Mustard Seed Communities: an international organization dedicated to helping children around the world. Our partnership began through our founder’s wife, Mrs. Terry Newton, going on one of their trips, and has led to more employees going with them. Every year, we partner with them for their annual Dare to Care Fundraiser. October 7th, 2017 marked its 13th year, and the Newtons hosted it in Atlanta.
And we’re so happy to announce that this event raised
over $200,000 for abandoned & disabled children.
It’s amazing what happens when communities from near and far come together for an important cause! Newton Motor Group once again proudly donated a vehicle to auction off. It is always an honor for us to give back in this way.
What’s the impact?
Mustard Seed Communities holistically meets the needs of children with disabilities who have been abandoned or neglected. They strive to meet physical needs, as well as spiritual and emotional ones. The money raised from this event goes directly to make sure that these children, though once abandoned, are never abandoned again.
Some Very Special Guests
Some of our very own staff members and their families attended the event last month, including Mike Abbandonza, pictured below with Bill Newton. Mike Castro, from our South location in Shelbyville, came with his wife also.
In addition, some of the very men who help run the day-to-day activities of these communities attended. Monsignor Gregory Ramkissoon (below right), founder of Mustard Seed Communities, and Father Garvin Augustine (left), Executive Director of MS International both attended. Here they are with Terry Newton, who chairs this event every year. She also serves on the Board of Directors for Mustard Seed USA.

Here at Newton Nissan, we don’t say we’re #1…unless we are.
And we’ve been named the #1 Nissan Dealership in America by DealerRater in 2016 & 2017. Today, we are proud to announce that we are recipients of the 2017 Nissan Global Award. This award is given to the “best of the best”–the top 50 Nissan Dealerships worldwide, based on volume of sales for 2016.
However, that’s not what this award–what any award–is ultimately about for us. We don’t want to be the best of the best because of sales, but because of our relationships: on our team, in our community, and with our customers. We support our staff by making the workplace positive. And, we link arms with our community by hosting car giveaways, holiday drives, and fun events like Trunk or Treat.
Finally, day in and day out, we strive to meet our customers where they are and get to know them personally, as well as to get them in the best car for them and their family.
Thank you for trusting us at Newton Nissan with your car needs as well as your personal concerns. We are happy to serve you in whatever way we can.
YOU make us the best of the best!
We love Trunk or Treat!
Trunk or Treat is easily our favorite day of the year, because we here at Newton Nissan love getting to see our community. It’s also an important day for us, because it is a day that we promote the community we are in. This year, the Gallatin High School Band helped us decorate 40 trunks that we filled with enough candy for all the afternoon’s visitors! In return, we donated funds that will help them continue to develop their program!
Battling the freezing temperatures, the band’s trunks showed up early and began decorating their cars, trucks, and SUVs into spooky entrances, fun characters, and pop culture references, such as Jurassic Park and Star Trek. We brought in fun bouncy houses and euro bungees for the kids to enjoy for a few hours! The cold weather would not keep us from having fun with our community.
So, why do we do this?
Because we here at Newton Nissan believe that our community is more valuable than our bottom line. And to show this, we simply want to be a part of our customer’s lives. Trunk or Treat is one of those days when that becomes a reality, a day that allows us to host a fun event, get to know our community, and to give back. Ultimately, we hope that this community relationship extends from fun events into the daily interactions we have with every person that walks through our doors!
