Commonly Misspelled Words

By krosenbaum | Posted in Newton Advantage, Newton Radio Ads, Our Customers on Monday, March 11th, 2019 at 9:55 AM

This week when you hear our favorite radio voice, Mike Abbondanza, be listening for some references to misspelled words. Here it is for you non-radio-listening, Spotify-streaming types:

“That’s just wrong! Wrong with a captital-R… or is it a W?”

It got us thinking… what are other commonly misspelled words? Here are 10 of our favorite examples:

  1. Recieve — remember that it’s “i before e except after c.” Correct spelling: Receive.
  2. Definately — also sometimes “defiantly,” which is just too harsh. correct spelling: definitely.
  3. Wendesday — anyone else say “wed – nes – day” in their head? Just me? Correct spelling: Wednesday.
  4. Sandwhich — the extra “h” is not actually necessary. Correct spelling: sandwich.
  5. Seperate — easily corrected by another in-your-head pronunciation: “sep-AH-rate.” Correct spelling: separate.
  6. They’re, there, & their — easily the easiest words to misuse. “They’re” = “they are;” “There” is for places; “their” is a possessive pronoun.
  7. Principal or principle? — remember that your principal at school is your “pal”; your principles are your values or standards.
  8. Tommorow — this one is especially fun to misspell while writing in cursive. Correct spelling: tomorrow.
  9. Goverment — you actually have to “govern” to have a government. So don’t forget the “n” in there!
  10. Beutiful — here’s a fun video to help you remember this one, beautiful:

What words do you find yourself misspelling (or Googling to get right)?

Why Buy a Newton Certified Pre-Owned Vehicle?

By krosenbaum | Posted in Nissan News on Tuesday, February 19th, 2019 at 5:34 PM

We know there are a lot of options when considering a vehicle purchase. New, used, certified pre-owned–it can get a little confusing. For most people, the most important piece of the car-buying puzzle is price, right? You want to know you are getting the best deal. At Newton Nissan, we want you to get the best deal as well the best experience possible. However, there’s more than just price & experience involved in your deal. The vehicle itself must be in the best condition possible, especially used or pre-owned vehicles. Keep reading for more information on how we re-condition our Newton Certified Pre-Owned vehicles.

What work goes into a Newton Certified Pre-ONewton Certified Pre-Ownedwned Vehicle?

The bottom line of every certified pre-owned vehicle is the 170-point inspection, ensuring that every inch of the car is inspected. If repairs are needed, we will cover these. The following (and more) are covered in the 170-point inspection:

  • Air Bags/Seat Belts
  • Unibody/Frame
  • Tires and Wheels
  • Engine/Fuel
  • Electrical System
  • Suspension/Steering
  • Road Test

During this inspection, we decide what needs to be repaired. For example, if the tire treads are extremely worn down, we will go ahead and put new tires on the vehicle. During your visit with us, we will go over these details with you to make sure you know what work was needed and how we took care of the vehicle — so that you don’t immediately have service bills on top of your purchase! Please note that we do our best, but we do not claim perfection or that a vehicle will never have problems. Again, we will be very transparent up front about any issues we saw. Don’t hesitate to ask us questions!

Newton Pre-Owned

What’s included with a Newton Pre-Owned Certified Vehicle?

In addition to the work that goes into re-conditioning a used vehicle, we certify some of our used inventory so that you know you are getting even more value in your purchase with us. This Newton Certified Program includes:

 7-year/100,000-mile Limited Warranty*

SiriusXM Satellite Radio with 3-month trial subscription

Optional Extended Protection Plan

CARFAX® Vehicle History Report™

At Newton Nissan of Gallatin, we take pride in our used inventory. We don’t just give them a car wash, a once-over, and park them out front. We make sure they are thoroughly ready to go before you make your decision and drive off our lot! Let us help you find your next Newton Certified Pre-Owned vehicle today!

**Please note: our cheaper, pre-auction line cars undergo an inspection to a lesser degree to keep them affordable for customers looking for a more inexpensive option.

What are Pre-Auction Line (PAL) Cars?

By krosenbaum | Posted in Nissan News on Tuesday, February 19th, 2019 at 5:15 PM

We all like options, right? At Newton Nissan of Gallatin, we want to give our customers options in every aspect: vehicles, financing, salesperson, and more. But of course the most important choice is the vehicle! We stock over 500 cars at any given time, new and used, so you can have a fun & simple shopping journey finding the perfect vehicle for you and your family. For new Nissan models, we stock a multitude of trim levels and packages that meet your needs, whether with the smartest technology or the safest features. For pre-owned vehicles, we have a couple of different options:

Pre-Auction Line vehicles, or “PAL” for short, are available to the public for a limited time before being released to independent dealerships. A free Carfax® report is still available for these vehicles. PAL vehicles fall outside of Newton Nissan’s traditional inventory offerings and are sold “as-is,” without a warranty.

Pre-Auction Line

FAQ’s about Pre-Auction Line Vehicles

Are PAL cars still inspected?

Yes, PAL cars still receive an inspection; however, repairs or service work are generally not performed. This is to keep the vehicle as affordable as possible.

How do I know if the vehicle I’m interested in is a PAL car?

We add the PAL cars to this section of our website. Additionally, during your time at the dealership, we will go over important notes about the vehicle’s condition and have you sign documents that state you understand that the vehicle is sold “as is,” meaning you take full responsibility for any service work that the vehicle may need because it has not been reconditioned like our other used vehicles have been.

What happens if something goes wrong with my PAL car after I leave?

Once you sign the agreement and purchase the vehicle, you release Newton Nissan South from all liability for any issues with the vehicle. However, we are happy to help in any way we can. Our certified technicians will take care of you, and you will receive a discounted labor rate for the work needed for your vehicle.

Have more questions about our Pre-Auction Line vehicles? One of our sales team would love to help you. You can chat with them below, call, or email. Please let us know how we can best serve you! We are here to give you the simplest & best car-buying experience in Middle Tennessee!

The Newton Advantage | Frequently Asked Questions

By krosenbaum | Posted in Buying a New Car, Buying a Used Car, Frequently Asked Questions, Newton Advantage, Newton Nissan, Newton Nissan News on Thursday, January 24th, 2019 at 3:36 PM

Newton Advantage

Starting in 2019, Newton Nissan launched the Newton Advantage, a new benefit of purchasing your new Nissan with us here in Gallatin, just a short drive north of Nashville. We offer this because we want to offer the best to our customers, who are more like family to us.

Included in the Newton Advantage is a 2-year Carefree Maintenance Package and a Lifetime Warranty.

Here are some frequently asked questions about the Newton Advantage:

What vehicles qualify for the Newton Advantage?

The Newton Advantage applies to all new vehicle purchases. We also have a Newton Certified Pre-Owned warranty on select used vehicles.

How long is the “lifetime” warranty really good for?

The Lifetime Warranty is valid for as long as you own the vehicle. You simply must return to our service center every 5 years for a free inspection. The Carefree Maintenance plan is for 24 months (or 30,000 miles), which gives you 4 oil changes, tire rotations, lube, and filter changes.

How much does it cost?

The Newton Advantage is absolutely free. We want to be your Nissan dealership for life, not just as a customer, but as our family & friends.

Where am I covered?

The Carefree Maintenance Plan requires that you get your oil changes & tire rotations here at our service center in Gallatin, which is only a short drive from Lebanon, Hendersonville, Madison, Goodlettsville, and downtown Nashville. You can trust our Nissan-certified technicians and enjoy free coffee, snacks, and WiFi while you wait.

However, there is no requirement to get your car’s service for the Lifetime Warranty done here. You simply must follow the manufacturer’s recommended maintenance plan and keep all your records.

Can the Lifetime Warranty be transferred?

No. The Lifetime Warranty expires when your vehicle is sold, traded, or deemed a total loss.

What exactly is covered?

The following components, parts, and labor are covered: Engine, Transmission, Transfer Case, Drive Axle, and Seals & Gaskets.

Some restrictions do apply, so ask your service adviser for more details on exactly what is and what is not covered.

‘Tis the Season: Newton Gives

By krosenbaum | Posted in Newton Gives, Newton Nissan on Friday, December 21st, 2018 at 12:34 PM

It’s no secret that we here at Newton Nissan love to give back. From giving away brand-new cars to smart students, hosting fun family events like Trunk or Treat, and sponsoring schools and sporting teams in our area–we are dedicated to supporting our community. One of the ways we’ve given back in recent years has been sponsoring an organization near and dear to our founder & owner’s hearts: Mustard Seed Communities.

This non-profit has multiple residential homes in 5 countries, which care for neglected and abandoned children with very special medical needs. Each community cares for residents’ physical, mental, and spiritual needs for as long as needed. Bill and Terry Newton have been working with them for over 16 years now!

Each year, the way Newton gives back is to donate in honor of the Newtons. Each of us give what we can, and every employee is invited to participate. We then announce the donation at our annual staff Christmas party. This year, we raised the most that we’ve ever raised before! $5500 will be donated to Mustard Seed Communities to help them continue in their mission to help some of the most needy children around the world. We are grateful for the opportunity to participate in this mission alongside our owners.

Things to Know About the New 2019 Nissan Altima

By krosenbaum | Posted in 2019 Nissan Altima, Buying a New Car, Newton Nissan, Nissan News on Tuesday, October 9th, 2018 at 2:32 PM
2019 Nissan Altima

2019 Nissan Altima

The all-new 2019 Nissan Altima is here!

We’re excited about the launch of this all-new redesign of the classic Nissan sedan we know and love! From exterior, to the engine, to the interior–this Altima has you covered. To get you excited too (it’ll be here soon!), we wanted to give you our top-five things you need to know about the 2019 Nissan Altima.

Here are the top things you need to know about it:

Redesign

The new Altima has been truly overhauled for a sleeker, sportier feel. Check out this head-to-head comparison with the 2018 Altima:

2019 Nissan AltimaThis sixth-generation Altima now has a deeper Nissan-signature V-motion grille, a floating roof like others in the Nissan lineup, and sharper lines. In fact, the new Altima is 1.1 inches lower in height than previous models. It culminates to a very fresh makeover for one of the most well-known and well-loved Nissan models.

Smart Technology

The 2019 Nissan Altima is leading the way in its class with the addition of the available ProPilot Assist. This is available on the SV, SL, and Platinum trim levels. ProPilot Assist was included on 2018 models like the Rogue; read more about that feature here. Also available on these trims is the new Rear Automatic Braking (RAB). RAB helps the driver detect stationary objects when backing up, and, if necessary, will apply the break to avoid a collision.

Three features are standard on all trims:

  1. Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB)
  2. Intelligent Forward Collision Warning (I-FCW), and
  3. Intelligent Driver Alertness (I-DA)

All of these combine to create a 360 safety shield around the 2019 Nissan Altima drivers and passengers, as Nissan continues to forge forward in vehicle safety technology.

Things the competition doesn’t have – that the Altima does

At the end of the day, how does it compare to the competition? Check out this video for a review on 5 things the 2019 Nissan Altima has that other sedans do not. For quick reference, these five things are:

  1. Available Intelligent All-Wheel Drive
  2. AVC Turbo Engine – the first production-ready in the world (see more information in the video)
  3. Standard Apple Car Play & Android Auto
  4. Concierge service – a free 3-year plan to order flowers, book a restaurant, reserve tickets, and more!
  5. 2 USB-C charging points, which is a newer port that is beginning to be used more regularly as it charges more quickly than a standard USB (but those are included as well!)

So when we heard about this year’s White House on Fire “Rocktober Celebration,” benefiting the Volunteer Fire Department in White House, we knew we wanted to help. ProPilot Assist: Nissan’s Smart Technology

By krosenbaum | Posted in 2018, Buying a New Car, Car Tips and Tricks, Newton Nissan, Nissan, Nissan Rogue, Staff on Thursday, September 13th, 2018 at 11:23 AM

ProPilot Assist

Nissan is known for its great vehicles & smart technology, because of the strong belief that smart technology can improve driver and passenger safety. A fairly new Nissan technology advancement is known as ProPilot Assist.

How does ProPilot Assist help drivers?

This technology works like a really smart cruise control, helping helps drivers using cruise control to:

  • stay in their lane,
  • maintain an appropriate distance between cars,
  • keep the vehicle centered in the lane, and
  • stay moving or stopped as traffic dictates.

It was first introduced on the 2018 Rogue. These features can be operated easily by simply pressing a blue button on the steering wheel. It is primarily intended to reduce driver fatigue on long stretches of travel. You must keep your hands on the steering wheel, but can relax them, as well as your feet, as the the vehicle does most of the heavy work for you!

How to use ProPilot Assist:

Some of our team made the following video to help you see ProPilot Assist in action. Check it out & come by and test drive a new Rogue today to see this feature in action yourself!
