This week when you hear our favorite radio voice, Mike Abbondanza, be listening for some references to misspelled words. Here it is for you non-radio-listening, Spotify-streaming types:
“That’s just wrong! Wrong with a captital-R… or is it a W?”
It got us thinking… what are other commonly misspelled words? Here are 10 of our favorite examples:
- Recieve — remember that it’s “i before e except after c.” Correct spelling: Receive.
- Definately — also sometimes “defiantly,” which is just too harsh. correct spelling: definitely.
- Wendesday — anyone else say “wed – nes – day” in their head? Just me? Correct spelling: Wednesday.
- Sandwhich — the extra “h” is not actually necessary. Correct spelling: sandwich.
- Seperate — easily corrected by another in-your-head pronunciation: “sep-AH-rate.” Correct spelling: separate.
- They’re, there, & their — easily the easiest words to misuse. “They’re” = “they are;” “There” is for places; “their” is a possessive pronoun.
- Principal or principle? — remember that your principal at school is your “pal”; your principles are your values or standards.
- Tommorow — this one is especially fun to misspell while writing in cursive. Correct spelling: tomorrow.
- Goverment — you actually have to “govern” to have a government. So don’t forget the “n” in there!
- Beutiful — here’s a fun video to help you remember this one, beautiful:
What words do you find yourself misspelling (or Googling to get right)?
We know there are a lot of options when considering a vehicle purchase. New, used, certified pre-owned–it can get a little confusing. For most people, the most important piece of the car-buying puzzle is price, right? You want to know you are getting the best deal. At Newton Nissan, we want you to get the best deal as well the best experience possible. However, there’s more than just price & experience involved in your deal. The vehicle itself must be in the best condition possible, especially used or pre-owned vehicles. Keep reading for more information on how we re-condition our Newton Certified Pre-Owned vehicles.
The bottom line of every certified pre-owned vehicle is the 170-point inspection, ensuring that every inch of the car is inspected. If repairs are needed, we will cover these. The following (and more) are covered in the 170-point inspection:
- Air Bags/Seat Belts
- Tires and Wheels
- Electrical System
- Road Test
During this inspection, we decide what needs to be repaired. For example, if the tire treads are extremely worn down, we will go ahead and put new tires on the vehicle. During your visit with us, we will go over these details with you to make sure you know what work was needed and how we took care of the vehicle — so that you don’t immediately have service bills on top of your purchase! Please note that we do our best, but we do not claim perfection or that a vehicle will never have problems. Again, we will be very transparent up front about any issues we saw. Don’t hesitate to ask us questions!
What’s included with a Newton Pre-Owned Certified Vehicle?
In addition to the work that goes into re-conditioning a used vehicle, we certify some of our used inventory so that you know you are getting even more value in your purchase with us. This Newton Certified Program includes:
7-year/100,000-mile Limited Warranty*
SiriusXM Satellite Radio with 3-month trial subscription
Optional Extended Protection Plan
CARFAX® Vehicle History Report™
At Newton Nissan of Gallatin, we take pride in our used inventory. We don’t just give them a car wash, a once-over, and park them out front. We make sure they are thoroughly ready to go before you make your decision and drive off our lot! Let us help you find your next Newton Certified Pre-Owned vehicle today!
**Please note: our cheaper, pre-auction line cars undergo an inspection to a lesser degree to keep them affordable for customers looking for a more inexpensive option.
We all like options, right? At Newton Nissan of Gallatin, we want to give our customers options in every aspect: vehicles, financing, salesperson, and more. But of course the most important choice is the vehicle! We stock over 500 cars at any given time, new and used, so you can have a fun & simple shopping journey finding the perfect vehicle for you and your family. For new Nissan models, we stock a multitude of trim levels and packages that meet your needs, whether with the smartest technology or the safest features. For pre-owned vehicles, we have a couple of different options:
- Used Cars — some of these might still have their manufacturer warranty, some might have our certified warranty
- Newton Certified Pre-Owned Vehicles — we back these with our own warranty, which you can read about here
- Pre-Auction Line (PAL) cars — these are sold “as is,” with no warranty (keep reading for more information)
Pre-Auction Line vehicles, or “PAL” for short, are available to the public for a limited time before being released to independent dealerships. A free Carfax® report is still available for these vehicles. PAL vehicles fall outside of Newton Nissan’s traditional inventory offerings and are sold “as-is,” without a warranty.
FAQ’s about Pre-Auction Line Vehicles
Are PAL cars still inspected?
Yes, PAL cars still receive an inspection; however, repairs or service work are generally not performed. This is to keep the vehicle as affordable as possible.
How do I know if the vehicle I’m interested in is a PAL car?
We add the PAL cars to this section of our website. Additionally, during your time at the dealership, we will go over important notes about the vehicle’s condition and have you sign documents that state you understand that the vehicle is sold “as is,” meaning you take full responsibility for any service work that the vehicle may need because it has not been reconditioned like our other used vehicles have been.
What happens if something goes wrong with my PAL car after I leave?
Once you sign the agreement and purchase the vehicle, you release Newton Nissan South from all liability for any issues with the vehicle. However, we are happy to help in any way we can. Our certified technicians will take care of you, and you will receive a discounted labor rate for the work needed for your vehicle.

It’s no secret that we here at Newton Nissan love to give back. From giving away brand-new cars to smart students, hosting fun family events like Trunk or Treat, and sponsoring schools and sporting teams in our area–we are dedicated to supporting our community. One of the ways we’ve given back in recent years has been sponsoring an organization near and dear to our founder & owner’s hearts: Mustard Seed Communities.
This non-profit has multiple residential homes in 5 countries, which care for neglected and abandoned children with very special medical needs. Each community cares for residents’ physical, mental, and spiritual needs for as long as needed. Bill and Terry Newton have been working with them for over 16 years now!
Each year, the way Newton gives back is to donate in honor of the Newtons. Each of us give what we can, and every employee is invited to participate. We then announce the donation at our annual staff Christmas party. This year, we raised the most that we’ve ever raised before! $5500 will be donated to Mustard Seed Communities to help them continue in their mission to help some of the most needy children around the world. We are grateful for the opportunity to participate in this mission alongside our owners.
To learn more about Mustard Seed Communities and how you can help, please visit their website.
‘Tis the season for Christmas music! Now that it’s December, we are currently listening to Christmas music on repeat with SiriusXM Radio here at our store. Are you listening to Christmas music yet? Personally, I’ve been listening since Trunk or Treat ended!
We’ve been enjoying the all-new Hallmark Channel here! Let us know what you’re listening to, if you’re in a vehicle equipped with SiriusXM.
Don’t have SiriusXM? No problem! Check out these local stations that are now playing 24/7 Christmas music:

- 94FM The Fish
We’re wishing you a happy, safe holiday season — filled with great memories, food, and music!
Here at Newton Nissan, we love our community. We take in many different sponsorship applications and try to be a part of as many fundraising events as we can. We can’t help everyone, but we can make a difference in little ways all across our community. So when we heard about this year’s White House on Fire “Rocktober Celebration,” benefiting the Volunteer Fire Department in White House, we knew we wanted to help. This event has turned from a small idea that Brian Gamboa had to help the Fire Department, to a community-wide event that many other local businesses have also sponsored to help raise money.
