Have you heard the news? After over 15 years, Nissan is finally breathing new life into the Frontier with the debut of the redesigned 2022 Nissan Frontier. With the midsize truck market offering some of the fiercest competition yet, the new Frontier comes at the perfect time as Nissan takes the truck from outdated mediocrity to monumental capability. The new Frontier is ready for any adventure both on and off the pavement and, as your Hartsville Nissan dealer, we can’t wait to tell you more about just how capable the truck is.

Ready For The Trail

While the 2022 Nissan Frontier is radically redesigned from the inside out, there’s no question that the most capable warrior in the lineup is the 2022 Frontier PRO-4X that Nissan promises is “raised by wolves.” The PRO-4X is what off-road dreams are made of and is exactly the type of truck you want if you’re venturing outside of Hartsville to off-road venues like Windrock Park in Oliver Springs or Wheelin’ in the Country in Summertown. So, what makes it capable enough to earn a coveted place among off-road warriors like the Toyota Tacoma TRD Off-Road and the Chevrolet Colorado ZR2 Bison?

#1 Rugged Exterior

Rugged and modern, the 2022 Frontier PRO-4X is an imposing beast from any angle. Sitting wider and higher than the standard Frontier, the PRO-4X features a chiseled hood and a massive front grille with Lava Red grille accents. The grille is framed by all-new precision interlocking LED headlamps in addition to LED daytime running lights and LED fog lights that are exclusive to the PRO-4X trim. Moving to the rear, the truck is equipped with muscular rear fenders and machined precision lights that leave no question to drivers behind the Frontier that they’re following an off-road-ready warrior.

#2 Plenty Of Power

Nissan is no stranger to building midsize trucks ready for the racetrack, and that’s the inspiration behind what’s under the hood of the 2022 Frontier. The truck comes standard with a 3.8-liter direct-injection V8 engine and a nine-speed automatic transmission that delivers 310 horsepower and 281 lb-ft of torque. The redesigned transmission is engineered for quicker acceleration and efficiency, which goes hand-in-hand with Nissan’s hydraulic rack-and-pinion steering gear that makes the Frontier easier to keep centered on the road. Of course, whether that road is paved or not is entirely up to you.

#3 A Smooth And Stable Ride, No Matter The Road

The PRO-4X begs to be taken off the road with exclusive Bilstein off-road shocks that absorb every bump and landing on the trail. But the Nissan’s smooth ride doesn’t stop there, thanks to hydraulic cab mounts that reduce the vibrations of the road by 80 percent. The Frontier is also equipped with front and rear stabilizer bars that increase traction and enhance stability by reducing the potential for rolling the truck in hazardous conditions such as slippery roads or treacherous trails with steep grades and oversized obstacles.

#4 Optimal Traction

Equipped with four-wheel drive, the PRO-4X takes capability even further with its shift-on-the-fly four-wheel drive system that offers three different modes – 2WD, 4HI, and 4LO – that give drivers easy access to the gear they need right when they need it. For example, 4HI is ideal at highway speeds and on level roads where there’s more need for traction than power. 4LO is best used at lower speeds where crawling over terrain like mud, sand, and gravel requires more traction. These modes work even better with the PRO-4X’s electronic locking differential that increases traction by delivering power to the rear wheels to pull the PRO-4X through any terrain when the going gets tough.

#5 The Perfect View

How many times have you been on the trail, and the going actually gets tough? Have you used an external spotter to help you navigate your vehicle through obstacles like large boulders, mud pits, and downed trees? The 2022 Frontier makes navigating even the roughest terrains easy with the Intelligent Around View Monitor and its Off-Road Mode. Once you shift into 4LO, the camera automatically activates and gives the driver a multi-angle view that’s ideal for steering the Frontier around obstacles without the need for an external spotter.

#6 Plenty Of Safety

While the 2022 Frontier is equipped for off-road adventures, there’s no question that the truck is also a capable performer on the pavement and in your everyday life. To give drivers even more confidence when they’re behind the wheel navigating everything from their daily commutes to family vacations and beyond, Nissan equips the Frontier with the Nissan Safety Shield 360. This suite offers advanced safety technology like Automatic Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection, Blind Spot Warning, High Beam Assist, Lane Departure Warning, Rear Automatic Braking, and Rear Cross Traffic Alert. All of these features are designed to enhance visibility and minimize the potential for collisions.

#7 Fit For A King

Redesigned from the inside out, Nissan promises that the 2022 Frontier isn’t “your daddy’s midsize truck,” and we couldn’t agree more. The interior is fit for a king with Zero Gravity front and outboard rear seats that offer the ultimate comfort. The PRO-4X takes this luxury to the next level with custom stitching and an exclusive leather-wrapped center console that offers 4.0-liters of storage, which is the most found in any midsize truck on the market today.

#8 Tech For Days

Aside from offering exceptional off-road capability and interior comfort, the 2022 Frontier is also equipped with the latest technology. That begins with the largest-in-class 9.0-inch color touchscreen display that features Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration. Drivers also have all the information they need within their line of sight, thanks to the largest-in-class 7.0-inch Advanced Driver Assist Display. But that’s only the beginning of the Frontier’s tech!

The PRO-4X also offers wireless smartphone charging as well as NissanConnect and a Wi-Fi hotspot that ensures drivers stay connected wherever the road or trail leads. The Frontier is also equipped with two USB ports and two 12-volt outlets, but the PRO-4X adds to this with two 110-volt outlets located in the rear and the bed of the truck. These outlets have a 400-watt capability and give drivers the ability to charge a variety of accessories and tools.

#9 Cargo Hauling Made Easy

There’s no question that off-roading requires a lot of gear and equipment, but with the 2022 Frontier PRO-4X, there’s no need to worry about hauling everything you need. The truck is a capable hauler with a maximum towing capacity of 6,720 pounds and tools like Trailer Sway Control that give drivers confidence when hauling heavy loads. The Frontier’s truck bed takes this capability even further with its high-utility design that boasts a spray-in bed liner as well as the Utili-track Channel System. This system utilizes three C cross-section rails mounted in the bed with four fixed tie-down hooks to give drivers the flexibility to haul whatever gear they need. The Frontier is also equipped with cab and cargo bed lights that ensure the rear of the truck is visible and ready for any adventure, day or night.
