With so many vehicles on the market, why should you consider the 2024 Nissan Versa? Like Nissan’s other offerings, the largest draw the 2024 Versa has is down to two things: cost-effectiveness and the experience you get behind the wheel. Nissan’s vehicles are the proof you need to debunk the myth that “it must be too good to be true.” While high prices are often justified, they’re also sometimes not – manufacturers like Nissan are paving the way for more cost-effective yet practical vehicle experiences gracing the masses.

With three trims to select from and the most cost-friendly trim starting at only $16,290, there’s never been a better time to invest in this subcompact sedan that punches above its weight in numerous categories.[a] Features, performance, and efficiency – the 2024 Nissan Versa is a showcase product with an even more appealing price that’ll fit the bill for the type of driver who needs reliability and sustainability in their vehicle for those commutes to work and stops at the store for groceries.

  • Performance

The Standard 1.6L I-4 Engine and Transmission Options

The 2024 Nissan Versa has a 1.6L I-4 engine, regardless of whether you buy the Versa S, SV, or SR. There are two transmission types for this engine, which are vastly different. Two transmission types are great because they can cater to various drivers concurrently. For example, the 2024 Versa is available with either a 5-speed manual transmission or a continuously variable transmission (CVT,) so to say these transmission types are anything but similar is accurate. The transmission type doesn’t affect the performance output, which is to say that the 1.6L I-4 engine creates 122 hp and 114 lb-ft of torque on every trim. This performance is more than satiable for the excellent cost-effectiveness the Versa is so well known for – the Versa is one of the most generously-priced automobiles on the market, and the 2024 model is no different.

    Fuel Economy

Although the transmission type you purchase doesn’t affect horsepower or torque, it does affect fuel efficiency by a large margin. That doesn’t detract from the fact that the 2024 Nissan Versa is one of the most fuel-efficient sedans available. With the CVT, the 2024 Versa earns EPA-estimated ratings of 32 MPG in the city and 40 MPG on the highway, along with 35 MPG combined. Any vehicle with 40 MPG on the freeway deserves recognition for its efficiency, especially ones that don’t have the assistance of hybrid components.

Suppose you’re the driver who won’t operate a vehicle that doesn’t have three pedals by your feet. In that case, you’ll get some of the best fuel economy ratings a manual transmission sedan can offer, with the 2024 model earning ratings of 27 MPG in the city and 35 MPG on the highway, with 30 MPG combined. The manual transmission removes five miles on each of the three types of ratings, but you likely won’t find any drivers complaining about the fuel efficiency on offer.

    A Spacious Front Row

The 2024 Nissan Versa will get you places, and it’ll do so with the utmost comfort and roominess. What if you have passengers? Every passenger the 2024 Nissan Versa accommodates – up to five people, with an interior passenger volume of 88.9 cu.ft. – will be housed in the same dimensional consideration, so everyone in the car, whether that’s your spouse, co-workers, kids, grandparents, or siblings, will all enjoy the ride. In the front row, you and whoever sits beside you will have 39.5 inches of headroom and 44.5 inches of legroom. Alongside the excellent head and legroom ratings, you and your front-seat passenger have 53.1 inches of shoulder room and 50.9 inches of hip room.

    Rear Row Dimensions

Whoever is seated in the back row of your 2024 Versa will have similar measurements in some ways but different in others. For example, the back row in the 2024 Versa gives passengers 53.6 inches of shoulder room, which is a subtle increase over the first row. The other measurements for the 2024 Versa’s rear row include 36.3 inches of headroom, 31 inches of legroom, and a similar 50.1 inches of hiproom. The 2024 Versa’s cargo room is an excellent showcase for the model, as you can fit a remarkable amount of luggage in the trunk. Weekly groceries for the household or an impromptu trip to an out-of-town relative’s place; the 2024 Versa can fit your belongings, and there’ll be extra room for your friends and family to store their stuff.

    Vehicle Dimensions

Externally, the 2024 Versa is reasonably sized and not overbearingly so for a subcompact. The length of the vehicles measures 177 inches – or 14.75ft. The 2024 Versa is also 68.5 inches wide and 57.5 inches tall – 5.7 and 4.8ft, respectively. Lastly, the 2024 Versa has a 103.1-inch Wheelbase, a 59.8-inch front track width, and a 60.2-inch rear track width.

Nissan's Innovative Zero Gravity Front Seats

The 2024 Versa comes standard with an overflow of features, which is made more of an impressive feat given the cost-friendly nature of the 2024 Versa. 2024 Versa models come standard with a 6-way manually adjustable driver’s seat and a 4-way manually adjustable front-passenger seat, and both utilize Nissan’s patented Zero Gravity chair design. The idea is simple, but the underpinning technology is revolutionary. With the Nissan Zero Gravity chair, engineers use the science behind the “Neutral Body Posture” coined by none other than the National Aeronautics and Space Administration – commonly abbreviated as NASA. Aside from NASA’s research playing a pivotal role in conceptualizing the Zero Gravity seat, it’s the brain-child of a partnership between Nissan and research teams working within the Yamazaki Laboratory – a facility of the Keio University located in Tokyo, Japan. The Neutral Body Posture is the name given to the natural form a human body makes in the utmost relaxed state when there’s no gravity, which is why astronauts sleep distinctly while aboard their spacecraft. The idea for Nissan’s Zero Gravity seat is that the chair helps cradle the driver so that their body imitates this position. Why would you want to do this? Humans benefit from sitting in the Neutral Body Posture position – various physical therapies that use this position – meaning it both helps improve your overall health and posture and makes vehicles like the 2024 Nissan Versa the most comfortable for long drives.

    Seating Enhancements

Two types of cloth material are available for the 2024 Nissan Versa’s seats. A more generic-style cloth comes standard with the S trim, but moving up a peg to the SV replaces the traditional cloth material with a premium one that looks better and feels befitting of its premium naming. The more sporty SR trim does away with either of the prior two options; instead, a customized Prima-Tex leatherette not only retains a professional-grade feel but also adds flair with sport cloth, adding red coloring to the rims of each seat – and it’s astonishing to behold. The Prima-Tex chairs are the only one of the three configurations to have heated seat support and a leather-wrapped steering wheel to go alongside it.

    Connectivity and Infotainment

The 2024 Versa S and SV each have a 7-inch infotainment center, but the latter’s media hub is a NissanConnect unit. Although the Versa S misses features like Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, the 7-inch screen still makes navigating through your media, like music, radio controls, and more, a breeze. Additionally, three USB-A ports and an auxiliary port – not to mention Bluetooth connectivity – mean you don’t need fancy features to listen to the music you own or stream from your favorite streaming service. Even without the more bespoke apps, the 7-inch screen is still heavily utilized in other ways – like displaying your rearview camera feed when you’re reversing. The 7-inch infotainment center inside the SV adds USB-C ports, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, SiriusXM, and a wireless phone charging pad, so it’s what you should strive for if purchasing a 2024 Versa. However, the Versa SR has an 8-inch infotainment center, a more robust audio system with six speakers instead of four, and one additional USB-C port.

    Nissan Safety Shield 360

If the 2024 Nissan Versa wasn’t a compelling offer enough, every model also comes with Nissan Safety Shield 360. With Nissan Safety Shield 360, every Nissan Versa comes with Rear Automatic Braking, Automatic Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection, Lane Departure Warning, High Beam Assist, and Cruise Control. Stepping up to the SV adds features like a Blind Spot Warning, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, and Intelligent Driver Alertness that can alert you if the vehicle believes you may be too tired to drive based on factors like how you’re steering. The SR has everything the SV adds but also includes Intelligent Cruise Control (ICC.) With ICC, your Versa can not only maintain the speed you set but also lower and increase your speed depending on whether any vehicles are in front of you. And if so, how close you are to that vehicle plays a massive role.
